THE SIGNATURE SYSTEM

The QWD 12

Not twelve products to buy at once. Twelve useful roles that create a coherent wardrobe, in the order your life actually needs them.

Buy nothing until you can name the role it fills and three outfits it completes.

A system of roles, not a shopping quota.
01

Oxford shirt

Structure without stiffness. Start pale blue or white and make sure it works tucked and untucked.

02

Knit polo

The bridge between a T-shirt and shirt. Choose matte texture and a collar that holds its shape.

03

Substantial T-shirt

A clean base with enough cloth to hang rather than cling.

04

Merino crewneck

Fine warmth and texture beneath jackets; navy, charcoal or mid-grey does the most work.

05

Unstructured navy blazer

Soft shoulders and minimal padding make tailoring useful with denim as well as trousers.

06

Lightweight casual jacket

An overshirt, Harrington or simple chore jacket for the space between shirt and coat.

07

Dark straight jeans

Straight or gently tapered, with no distressing and enough room through the thigh.

08

Stone or navy chinos

A calm alternative to denim. Stone extends the palette; navy keeps it compact.

09

Charcoal tailored trousers

The sharper trouser: clean through the seat, controlled at the ankle, little or no break.

10

Minimal leather sneakers

Low-profile white or off-white leather, with quiet branding and a sole you will keep clean.

11

Dark-brown leather or suede shoes

A loafer, derby or chukka that moves the system beyond sneakers.

12

Clean, climate-ready outer layer

A coat or rain layer appropriate to your climate, with clean hardware and room to layer.
